Privacy Policy

Thank you for taking the time to come to my Makercise and discover all things we can learn and share together.  The truth is, this blog wouldn’t be what it is without readers like you.  In order for me to keep the site going and pay for web hosting and such costs associated with creating my content, I have several methods of income production active on my site.
You will find ads from various ad networks as well as affiliate links.  Sometimes I even write about products I like or use for a profit.  You will always know when I’m being paid to write an article on this blog or have been given free materials to use.  Please know that I wouldn’t recommend items I don’t like or haven’t heard good things about because I don’t like wasting money and I don’t want you to waste money either.  Below you will find the privacy policy information on my site.  If you like a product and would prefer not use my links, feel free to go directly to the site you want to visit to view the item or product.
Privacy Policy for www.makercise.com.
The privacy of our visitors to www.makercise.com is important to us.
At Makercise we recognize that privacy of your personal information is important. Here is information on what types of personal information we receive and collect when you use and visit Makercise and how we safeguard your information.  We never sell your personal information to third parties.
Log Files
As with most other websites, we collect and use the data contained in log files.  The information in the log files include  your IP (internet protocol) address, your ISP (internet service provider, such as AOL or Shaw Cable), the browser you used to visit our site (such as Internet Explorer or Firefox), the time you visited our site and which pages you visited throughout our site.
Google Analytics
Google offers website owners the opportunity to add code to their webpages that allows a website owner to get an idea of anonymous statistics regarding visitors to their website.  I have this active on my site so that I can see demographics on my audience such as general ages, where visitors live around the world, what times they view my site, how long they stay there, what posts are visited and other data that is relevant to my audience giving me an idea of how to best run my blog.  I use this data to decide things like what to write about and what products would be most relevant to write about.  It also helps me know what times of the day I should post or share on social media.  You always have the option of changing your browser settings to keep this from being tracked on any website by visiting the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on and following the directions.
Cookies and Web Beacons
We do use cookies to store information, such as your personal preferences when you visit our site.  This could include only showing you a popup once in your visit, or the ability to login to some of our features, such as forums.
We also use third party advertisements on Makercise.com to support our site.  Some of these advertisers may use technology such as cookies and web beacons when they advertise on our site, which will also send these advertisers (such as Google through the Google AdSense program or Amazon Associates) information including your IP address, your ISP , the browser you used to visit our site, and in some cases, whether you have Flash installed.  This is generally used for geotargeting purposes (showing New York real estate ads to someone in New York, for example) or showing certain ads based on specific sites visited (such as showing cooking ads to someone who frequents cooking sites).
You can chose to disable or selectively turn off our cookies or third-party cookies in your browser settings, or by managing preferences in programs such as Norton Internet Security.  However, this can affect how you are able to interact with our site as well as other websites.  This could include the inability to login to services or programs, such as logging into forums or accounts.
Affiliate Links
Kim Anderson (Makercise) is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to amazon.com.  All post that contains amazon.com links are associated with this affiliate program.  Advertising fees are earned when a visitor clicks on an Amazon link and makes a purchase from Amazon.com according to the terms of the Amazon Associates Operating Agreement.  You can view that agreement on Amazon.com to see how your clicks earn an affiliate a small % of income.
I also have joined various affiliate networks in connection with products and services I already use and love.  You will always find a notice at the beginning of a post that lets you know that the post contains affiliate links and that I will make a small commission if you purchase something from clicking on an affiliate link.  There is a special code in my link that lets the company know you are coming from my blog to their site.  It’s how they track my commission.
Those small commissions help me keep the blog running and help support my family so I appreciate when you do choose to purchase something through Makercise links.
